Intention, Guide, and Navigation System
It’s been a while since I last blogged. I have been continuing with my spiritual journey and growth. Every lesson I encounter can be a blog topic on its own but timing hasn’t been right thus far.
This morning, as I was driving to a dog training class, something came to me… I realized setting intention and following your Guide is like navigation system (think of Waze, Google maps, Mapquest, TomTom, etc.).
I thought this was funny so I had to blog about it.
You need to know where you are going
When you use a navigation system, you need to enter the address. Unless you enter the address, it won’t know where to guide you to. It’s as simple as that…
In your life, if you don’t specify where you want to go, your Guide doesn’t know how to assist you to get there.
You need to know where exactly you are going
Have you ever find yourself getting to the destination OK, but you don’t quite know where exactly the “final” destination is? For example, you are going to your friend’s apartment. You got the address to the complex, but forgot to ask for the apartment number. Or you entered an address to a large park with multiple parking areas, but you don’t know exactly which parking area you were supposed meet your friend at.
It is important to know where you are going but you sometimes need a even clearer description of the final destination, otherwise your Guide doesn’t know to take you there.
You need to know what you are going to do once you get there
Have you ever find yourself needing to go to a grocery store and get to one of the stores only to remember you needed something this one doesn’t carry? Or you and your friend decide to go to town and find yourself wondering “what now?” and realize maybe it was better to stay home and do something local?
I don’t think the latter situation is particularly bad if the goal is for you to spend time with your friend. In that case, you should be open to the fact you might not get to do things and it is perfectly OK.
I also think it is OK to not have any specific goals but your first intention is to get there and find out what comes next. If that’s the case, don’t complain that you didn’t find what you were looking for since you didn’t specify what you were looking clear enough.
I find that our Guides are very literal. If your intention is to “get there,” it will lead you there but that’s all you get. If you intend to get there and accomplish a particular thing, then your Guide will clear the path to make it so.
Listening to the guidance help you get there faster and/or safer
Navigation system has many functionalities where it will tell you different routes based on traffic, road closure, etc. Some will even let you warn you about a police activity. Navigation system often saves me hours by not letting me get stuck in a huge traffic jam. Sometimes it takes me on a weird scenic tour but I get there eventually.
Your Guide will give you the instruction how to get there faster and safer as long as you are open to listening to it. You might say “I’ve got it” but your Guide sees a lot more things that you might not be aware of…
You cannot blindly listen to the guide
You’ve heard news reports where people drive into water or get in a bad situation because their navigation system took them there. Well, you cannot blindly listen to your Guide either…
I think this is a very important point. Some folks might ask, because your Guide told you to, do you walk into a fire? Maybe, maybe not. You’d need to be the judge of that. I still believe we should take the driver seat even though your Guide knows a whole lot more than you.
You can get there in many different ways
There are more than one way to get to the destination. If you don’t have the means to fly, you can still drive there. If you want, you could even walk. It might be hard work with some of the choices, but getting there could end up being the part of fun or your learning.
Your Guide will help you get there, but depending on where you are on your spiritual journey, you may need to take more time than someone else on a similar journey. But trust that you will get there if your intention is clear and strong.
